Preview: Perris Panthers vs. West Valley Mustangs

After two games on the road, Perris is heading back home. They will take on the West Valley Mustangs at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Thursday, Perris was able to grind out a solid victory over Tahquitz, taking the game 59-48. The win was just what Perris needed coming off of a 81-46 defeat in their prior match.

Meanwhile, West Valley had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Citrus Hill with a 65-60 win on Thursday.

West Valley relied on the efforts of Malachi Black, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds, and Ahkil McClellan, who scored 19 points along with two steals. Black has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Alexander, who scored seven points along with six steals.

Perris' victory bumped their record up to 3-14. As for West Valley, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.

Perris was able to grind out a solid win over West Valley in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 75-63. Will Perris repeat their success, or does West Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
