Baseball Recap: Quitman Comes Up Short

If Quitman was riding high fresh off their 11-4 takedown of Richton last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Quitman came up short against Morton on Tuesday, falling 17-5. Panthers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Morton since on Tuesday.

Quitman saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaliel Cameron, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Cameron has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played.

Even though they lost, Quitman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .542. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Quitman has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season. The victory got Morton back to even at 4-4.

While Quitman had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
