Basketball Recap: Garrett Gandy's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Central over Paxton

Central lost against Paxton back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Central Jaguars fell 52-43 to the Paxton Bobcats.

Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Garrett Gandy, who posted ten points and three steals. Those ten points gave Gandy a new career-high. Donovan Dean was another key player, going 5 of 10 en route to 13 points and seven boards.

Paxton was led to victory by Garrett Lowry and Cade Stewart. Lowry scored eight points and 16 rebounds, while Stewart earned 14 points and five steals. Stewart has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trevor Varnum, who put up 11 points and six boards.

Central has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Paxton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-10.

Central has already played their next contest, a 60-40 loss against Baker on the 27th. As for Paxton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 45-42 victory against Graceville on the 27th.
