Volleyball Recap: Wausau West Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Wausau West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lakeland Thunderbirds. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 2-1 to the Thunderbirds when the teams met back in August of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Lakeland scored at least 20 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-22, 22-25, 25-20.

Despite the defeat, Wausau West saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ava Ngo had 15 assists and 13 digs. Jaidyn Oelke also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Wausau West's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Lakeland, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-5.

Looking ahead, Wausau West will be playing at home against Wausau East at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lakeland, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Tomahawk on the 23rd.
