Basketball Game Preview: Oak Park-River Forest Huskies vs. Richards Bulldogs

The Oak Park-River Forest Huskies and the Richards Bulldogs will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Oak Park-River Forest has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since January 18.

Last Tuesday, Oak Park-River Forest came up short against Willowbrook and fell 57-48. That's two games in a row now that the Huskies have lost by exactly nine points.

Oak Park-River Forest might have lost, but man, Genevieve Simkowski was a machine: she went 9-for-20 on her way to 19 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. That's the most assists Simkowski has posted since back in November of 2024. Taryn Draine was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Oak Park-River Forest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Richards, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They secured a 52-48 W over Argo on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Argonauts: they've now won three in a row.

Oak Park-River Forest's loss dropped their record down to 3-28. As for Richards, their victory bumped their record up to 7-19.
