Villa Park waltzed into their match on Wednesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Foothill Knights. This was a revenge game for the Spartans: when they faced off against the Knights back in March, they had to take a 2-0 defeat.

Jack McGuire tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Dominic Gutierrez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aidan Young, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Villa Park's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-5. As for Foothill, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-10 record this season.

Villa Park will have a chance to go back-to-back against Foothill: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
