Abingdon came tearing into Saturday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Brookville Bees. That's two games straight that the Falcons have won by exactly ten runs.

Lauren Baker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mariah Branscomb, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Muriel Dillow, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Abingdon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Abingdon's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Brookville, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Coming up, Abingdon will take on John Battle at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brookville, they will face off against Alleghany at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Bees' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
