Baseball Recap: Moon Valley Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Moon Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. Everything went their way against the Cortez Colts on Wednesday as the Moon Valley Rockets made off with an 11-5 victory. The Rockets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Colts, too.

John Lowndes and James Lee were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Lowndes struck out ten batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Lee tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance gave Lowndes a new career-high in strikeouts. At bat, Lowndes scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Lee scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Crystian Norstrom was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Harlan Marquez-Hill, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Moon Valley now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Cortez, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moon Valley will face off against Dysart at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Dysart is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season. Cortez will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Coronado at 3:45 p.m. on March 25th.
