Basketball Recap: Poquoson Islanders vs. Lafayette Rams

Poquoson lost against Lafayette back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Poquoson Islanders took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lafayette Rams. While losing is never fun, the Islanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 341st, while the Rams are ranked 156th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lafayette to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kordell London, who went 5-for-10 en route to 13 points and five assists. London has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Daniel Jackson, who went 5-for-6 to rack up 10 points.

Poquoson dropped their record down to 2-15 with the defeat, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Lafayette, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poquoson will face off against Bruton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bruton will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Poquoson surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lafayette, they will take on Tabb at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lafayette is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55 points per game this season.
