Softball Recap: Greenbrier Beats Evans for Their Sixth Straight Win

Greenbrier waltzed into their game on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Evans Knights as they made off with a 13-3 victory. The Wolfpack might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Brooke Raymond was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josie McQuillan, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophia Griffin, who went 3-for-4 with four runs.

Greenbrier was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .385 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

Greenbrier's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Evans, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Greenbrier will have a chance to go back-to-back against Evans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:35 p.m. on Wednesday.
