Basketball Recap: James Island Comes Up Short

James Island suffered their closest loss since December 20, 2023 on Friday. They fell just short of the North Charleston Cougars by a score of 38-36. The Trojans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 57-49.

Richard Hazel III continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for North Charleston, putting up 12 points along with seven boards and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Porcher, who posted six points.

James Island is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6. As for North Charleston, their victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-5.

James Island will challenge Lucy Beckham at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lucy Beckham will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something James Island surely won't give up without a fight. As for North Charleston, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 68-40 victory against Burke on the 4th.
