Soccer Recap: Lake Highlands Extends Winning Streak to Six

Lake Highlands was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They won by a goal and slipped past the Pearce Mustangs 2-1. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Mustangs are ranked 159th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ashlyn Steele and Laine Smith scored both of Lake Highlands' goals, bringing their combined season tally to seven goals.

The victory (which was Lake Highlands' sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 25 goals over those six matches. As for Pearce, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4-1.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Lake Highlands duke it out with the MacArthur at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. MacArthur's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Pearce, they will head out to face off against Irving at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
