Softball Game Preview: Columbia Central Golden Eagles vs. Michigan Center Cardinals

The Columbia Central Golden Eagles will face off against the Michigan Center Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Columbia Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.

Columbia Central saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell just short of Howell by a score of 8-7. The Golden Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hailey Wetherby spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Rylee Knapp made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Kelsey Fausz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Michigan Center got the win against Vandercook Lake on Friday by a conclusive 16-1. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by 12 runs or more this season.

The victory got Michigan Center back to even at 7-7. As for Columbia Central, their loss dropped their record down to 11-2.
