Basketball Game Preview: Georgetown Bulldogs vs. Cheraw Braves

The Georgetown Bulldogs will face off against the Cheraw Braves at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. Georgetown is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.2 points per game this season.

Georgetown is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Loris just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 56-48 to the Lions.

Despite their defeat, Georgetown saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ean Mitchell, who posted 14 points, was perhaps the best of all. Amos Jones was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cheraw, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They walked away with a 51-43 victory over Chesterfield on Tuesday.

Cheraw is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Georgetown, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-6.

Georgetown lost to Cheraw on the road by a decisive 61-43 margin when the teams last played back in February of 2020. Thankfully for Georgetown, Marshall Myers (who went 9 of 22 on his way to 25 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
