Football Game Preview: Manteo Redskins vs. East Bladen Eagles

The Manteo Redskins are taking a road trip to take on the East Bladen Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Manteo is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They breezed past Northampton County to the tune of 36-8. The Redskins pushed the score to 36-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Jaguars cut but never quite recovered from.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Finn Schultz and Jaheem Banks. Schultz rushed for 112 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 carries while Banks rushed for 95 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries. Those 112 rushing yards gave Schultz a new career-high.

Manteo was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 295 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Manteo didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Zay Williams and David Fisher.

Meanwhile, East Bladen's rock-solid defense showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. They never let Union get on the board and left with a 50-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won four in a row.

East Bladen's win came from a few key players Manteo will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Julius Battle, who rushed for 112 yards and one score on only seven carries. Another player making a difference was Dashon Campbell, who rushed for 81 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries.

Manteo's record now sits at 7-3. As for East Bladen, their record is now 8-3.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Manteo has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 166.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like East Bladen struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 292.5 rushing yards.
