Basketball Recap: Tanner Comes Up Short

Tanner won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Saturday. They were dealt an 81-45 defeat at the hands of the East Limestone Indians. While losing is never fun, the Rattlers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while the Indians are ranked 44th).

Despite the loss, Tanner had strong showings from Elyjah Jones, who posted 13 points and eight boards, and Cade Dorning, who went 5 for 10 en route to 13 points.

Tanner's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for East Limestone, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

Tanner has already played their next game (against Decatur Heritage Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. East Limestone will host Clements at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. East Limestone is facing Clements at the right time seeing as Clements is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
