Basketball Recap: Hillcrest's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Hillcrest came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 72-60 win over City University School of Liberal Arts. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while City University School of Liberal Arts are ranked 315th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hillcrest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ja'Coby Lewis led the charge by dropping a double-double with 13 points and ten assists. Lewis is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 100% in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jerrell Miller, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten boards.

Lewis wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Hillcrest was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as City University School of Liberal Arts only racked up eight assists.

Despite the loss, City University School of Liberal Arts still got an impressive performance from Tyler Reliford, who went 9-for-16 to rack up 23 points and five assists. What's more, Reliford also posted a 60% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Kevion Robertson was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Hillcrest's record is now 16-6. As for City University School of Liberal Arts, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-14.

Hillcrest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 88-69 victory against Westwood on the 10th. As for City University School of Liberal Arts, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 79-55 win against Memphis School of Excellence - Cordova on the 10th.
