Preview: Marbury Bulldogs vs. Chilton County Tigers
After two games on the road, Marbury is heading back home. They will take on The Chilton County Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chilton County took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Marbury, who comes in off a win.
Two weeks ago, Marbury didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Shelby County, but they still walked away with a 32-28 victory. The victory was just what Marbury needed coming off of a 46-20 defeat in their prior game.
It was another big night for Carsyn Cobb, who rushed for 112 yards and three touchdowns. Cobb hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for seven straight games.
Meanwhile, Chilton County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 34-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pelham.
Despite the defeat, Chilton County saw an underclassman step up: Logan Coppedge threw for 303 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 15.2 yards per attempt. Another player making a difference was Demarcus Riddick, who picked up 46 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Marbury's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Chilton County, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Marbury ended up a good deal behind Chilton County when the teams last played back in October of 2022, losing 31-14. Will Marbury have more luck at home instead of on the road?
