Baseball Recap: Liberty Comes Up Short

Liberty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Arlington Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-2 last Monday.

Liberty saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexander Arteaga, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Riley Vogt also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Arlington, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty will face off against Poly at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Arlington, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Arlington Lions challenge Paloma Valley Wildcats at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
