Football Recap: KIPP College Prep Starts off Right with Win over Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering

KIPP College Prep had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They breezed past Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering to the tune of 50-20. KIPP College Prep has seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering, too.

KIPP College Prep had a senior duo take command as Gregory Simon rushed for 100 yards and two scores on only nine carries and Markel Stephens threw for 151 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine passes. Stephens also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making eight total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception. Another player making a difference was Anthony Graves, who rushed for 46 yards and one touchdown.

Coming up, KIPP College Prep will square off against Friendly at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Phelps Architecture, Construction & Engineering, they will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Ballou at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
