Basketball Game Preview: Perry Panthers vs. Westerville North Warriors

The Perry Panthers will face off against the Westerville North Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Perry sitting on five straight victories and Westerville North on 23.

Perry is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Sunday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 66-63 win over North Royalton. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Panthers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Bears are ranked 21st).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Perry to victory, but perhaps none more so than Preston Dazey, who went 7-for-12 on his way to 18 points and eight boards. Those 18 points gave Dazey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Wolf, who shot 50% from the field en route to 18 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, everything went Westerville North's way against St. Francis de Sales on Sunday as Westerville North made off with a 73-53 win. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Perry pushed their record up to 14-13 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Westerville North, their win bumped their record up to 24-2.
