Softball Recap: Brookwood Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Brookwood had lost three games at home, but after bumping their record up to 8-6 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the Necedah Cardinals by a score of 6-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-6 back in April.

Mallory Wallace spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emily Cunitz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Necedah, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.

On Necedah's side, Hannah Hunkins was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. That double was Hunkins' first of the season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brookwood will take on La Farge at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Necedah, they will face off against Cashton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Cardinals surely won't give up without a fight.
