Softball Recap: South Turns Things Around After Road Loss

South's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to North on Thursday. The Rebels put the hurt on the Mayfield Wildcats with a sharp 7-1 win. Considering the Rebels have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Addy Matriano, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Jolly, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

South's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Mayfield, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

South has already played their next contest, a 1-1 draw against Buckeye on the 24th. As for Mayfield, they will be playing at home against North at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
