Coal City waltzed into their game on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They strolled past the Wilmington Wildcats with points to spare, taking the game 40-24. This was a revenge game for the Coalers: when they faced off against the Wildcats back in December of 2024, they had to take a 42-38 defeat.

Wilmington's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Sami Liaromatis, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 14 points, and Nikki Quigley, who posted four points. Liaromatis is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played.

Coal City's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-6. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.3 points per game. As for Wilmington, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-6.

Coal City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 54-34 loss against Marquette on the 1st. As for Wilmington, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Wilmington Wildcats face off against the Lisle Lions at 6:45 p.m. on Monday.
