Basketball Recap: HomeSchool Resource Center Patriots vs. Heritage Christian Defenders

HomeSchool Resource Center won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They had to suffer through a 63-35 loss at the hands of the Heritage Christian Defenders. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Defenders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

HomeSchool Resource Center lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Deuce Johnson, who had nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Colon, who had eight points plus three steals.

Even though they lost, HomeSchool Resource Center smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage Christian only pulled down six.

Heritage Christian can attribute much of their success to Isaac Ipema, who earned four points along with two steals. What's more, Ipema also racked up three assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was James Regnerus, who earned four points.

HomeSchool Resource Center's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Heritage Christian, their record now sits at 2-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. HomeSchool Resource Center will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Illinois C at 6:30 p.m. on December 10th. HomeSchool Resource Center will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak dating back to last season alive. As for Heritage Christian, they will host Granger Christian at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
