Softball Recap: Hobbs Gets the Win

Hobbs won the last time they faced Kirtland Central and things went their way on Friday too. The Eagles came out on top against the Broncos by a score of 7-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Destiny Chavarria spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits. The game marked her first with multiple earned runs this season.

At the plate, Hobbs let Kaiya Boyle and Mariah Jimenez run wild. Boyle went 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Jimenez scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base was Jimenez's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Jimenez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Hobbs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.

Hobbs' win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Kirtland Central, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

Hobbs wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-0 defeat against La Cueva on the 29th. As for Kirtland Central, they have also already played their next contest, a 12-11 victory against Cleveland on the 29th.
