Volleyball Recap: Bucksport Wins Going Away Against Lee Academy

Bucksport's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Lee Academy Pandas with a sharp 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Golden Bucks in their matchups with the Pandas: they've now won eight in a row.

While Bucksport won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-14, 28-26.

Bucksport found their leader in freshman Lucia Ferreira, who had 11 aces and four digs. Those 11 aces set a new season-high mark for Ferreira. Another player making a difference was Allison Hanscom, who had five digs and three aces.

Bucksport was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 23 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 14 aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Bucksport now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Lee Academy, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Bucksport will challenge North Yarmouth Academy at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lee Academy, they will welcome Machias at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
