Soccer Game Preview: E.E. Smith vs. St. Pauls

For the first time this season, E.E. Smith will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to square off against the St. Pauls Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. E.E. Smith's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Monday just wasn't the day for E.E. Smith's offense. They lost 7-0 to Scotland on September 8th. The game got a bit rough at times, as the refs handed out a total of three yellow cards before it was all over: E.E. Smith's Moises Rosal and Scotland's Jackson Hernandez and Ryan Locklear were all carded.

Meanwhile, St. Pauls won against West Bladen on Monday with five goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Wednesday. The Bulldogs blew past Whiteville 5-1. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 3-0.

The victory made it two in a row for St. Pauls and bumps their season record up to 7-3-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored ten goals over those two matches. As for E.E. Smith, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4-1.

E.E. Smith might still be hurting after the 9-0 loss they got from St. Pauls in their previous meeting back in August of 2017. Can the Golden Bulls avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
