Meanwhile, Akron came up short against Hi-Plains on Thursday, falling 3-0.
While Akron had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-20, 25-18, 25-19.
Wray's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Akron, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.
Wray took their win against Akron in their previous matchup back in October of 2023 by a conclusive 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wray since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
