Softball Recap: Yorktown Extends Winning Streak to Four

Yorktown won the last time they faced Pendleton Heights and things went their way on Friday too. The Tigers walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Arabians. The win was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won four contests in a row.

Olivia Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on 13 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Abbey Booher was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Reynolds, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Yorktown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matches.

Yorktown pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pendleton Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 12-15.

Looking ahead, Yorktown will square off against New Castle at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a four-game losing streak. Pendleton Heights does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
