Basketball Recap: San Marcos Piles Up the Points Against Buena

San Marcos posted their biggest win since December 27, 2024 on Friday. They blew past the Buena Bulldogs 60-33. Given the Royals' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 778th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Buena saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Caron Gervacio-Fitzgerald went 8 for 15 en route to 18 points and five boards.

San Marcos is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. As for Buena, they dropped their record down to 5-21 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

San Marcos wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 73-37 loss against Santa Barbara on the 3rd. As for Buena, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 83-45 defeat against Ventura on the 3rd.
