Basketball Recap: Waccamaw Comes Up Short

Waccamaw was the 48-39 winner over Marlboro County when they last played one another last Monday, but their luck changed this time around. The Waccamaw Warriors took a 50-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marlboro County Bulldogs. The Warriors were up 23-7 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

This is the second loss in a row for Waccamaw and nudges their season record down to 11-14. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 17-3 Dillon (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.5% over those games). As for Marlboro County, their victory bumped their record up to 8-13.

When Waccamaw and Marlboro County next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Waccamaw will face off against Dillon and their ten-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Marlboro County will try to stop Loris' four-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
