Baseball Recap: Eastern Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Washington Latin Public Charter School

Eastern faced Washington Latin Public Charter School in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Ramblers lost 19-6 to the Lions. The Ramblers' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Eastern saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aurry Lawrence, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Lawrence is becoming a predictor of the Ramblers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 5-7-1 when he doesn't). Aaron Williams was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Eastern's loss dropped their record down to 8-8-1. As for Washington Latin Public Charter School, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-7-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastern will venture away from home to challenge Bell at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Griffins have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.33 runs per game on average), something the Ramblers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
