Softball Game Preview: Owensboro Catholic Aces vs. Daviess County Panthers

Owensboro Catholic hasn't had much luck against Daviess County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Aces will head out to face off against the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. The last three games Owensboro Catholic has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Things were looking good for Owensboro Catholic after they put the first runs on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Apollo by a score of 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Aces have lost by just one run.

Railey Scott was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Lily Logsdon was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Daviess County faced Greenwood in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Panthers took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gators. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Daviess County's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-2. As for Owensboro Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Owensboro Catholic might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Daviess County when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Aces avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
