Football Recap: George West Continues Home Dominance on Friday

George West had won seven straight home games dating back to last season and Kohen Blount did his part to make it eight on Friday. The Longhorns simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Sabinal Yellowjackets 62-14 with plenty of help from Blount, who rushed for 177 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also picked up 45 receiving yards and two scores. Blount is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 114 every time he's taken the field this season.

George West's defense made their presence known, laying out Aiden Tinker four times. Sabinal's QB won't forget Kole Freeborn anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Freeborn also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with nine.

Although Sabinal took the loss, they still got scores from Kannen Rihn and Tinker.

George West's record now sits at 4-0. As for Sabinal, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

George West will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Monte Alto at 7:30 p.m. on the 3rd. The Longhorns will be up against the Blue Devil's rather soft defense (which has allowed 60.75 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Sabinal, they have already played their next game, a 58-20 win against Somerset Academy Collegiate on the 26th.
