Softball Recap: St. Johns Gets the Win

St. Johns's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with an 11-8 victory over the Payson Longhorns. The Redskins have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Longhorns, too.

The team relied heavily on Bellamia Nelson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordynn Tsinajinnie, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: St. Johns kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive games dating back to last season.

The win got St. Johns back to even at 1-1. As for Payson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

St. Johns didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 16-4 victory against Mogollon on the 5th. As for Payson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 11-4 defeat against Camp Verde on the 5th.
