Basketball Recap: Braylon Johnson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Knightstown over Hagerstown

Knightstown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They took a 61-45 bruising from the Hagerstown Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 54-52 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Knightstown's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braylon Johnson, who posted 16 points. The dominant performance gave Johnson a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Derius Moore, who scored ten points and eight boards.

Hagerstown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landon Lawson, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. Lawson is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down ten or more in each of the last three games he's played. Jaykob Troutwine was another key player, putting up 14 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Knightstown's defeat dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Hagerstown, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-11.

Looking ahead, Knightstown will challenge Randolph Southern at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hagerstown, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-48 victory against Tri on the 25th.
