Soccer Game Preview: Cherokee Trail vs. Arapahoe

The Cherokee Trail Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Arapahoe Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cherokee Trail will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Cherokee Trail will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Grandview, who they had gone 1-7-1 against in their nine prior meetings. The Cougars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Wolves on Tuesday.

Makayla Sellyei was the driving force of Cherokee Trail's attack as she scored both of Cherokee Trail's goals, bringing her season total up to eight goals.

Meanwhile, Arapahoe kept a clean sheet against Eaglecrest last Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Raptors with a sharp 6-0 victory. Considering Arapahoe have won five games by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Arapahoe has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those four matchups. As for Cherokee Trail, their record now sits at 9-3-2.

Cherokee Trail came up short against Arapahoe in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
