Recap: Locust Fork Hornets vs. Southeastern Mustangs
In what's become a running theme this season, the Locust Fork Hornets gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They put the hurt on Southeastern with a sharp 72-52 victory. The score was close at the half, but Locust Fork pulled away in the second half with 39 points.
Faith Evans was her usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-8 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 32 points and 12 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Cortlyn Williamson, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Locust Fork is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Southeastern, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-13.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Locust Fork won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Susan Moore at 5:00 p.m. on January 27th. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Susan Moore comes in on four and Locust Fork on three. As for Southeastern, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against West End at 5:00 p.m.
