Basketball Recap: Second Baptist Now 12-1 over Last 13 Games

Second Baptist hadn't done well against The Woodlands Christian Academy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Second Baptist Eagles put the hurt on The Woodlands Christian Academy Warriors with a sharp 82-61 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.

Second Baptist was led to victory by Reese Alston and Will Goolsby. Alston dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 assists, while Goolsby went 10 of 15 from beyond the arc on his way to 34 points. The match was Alston's 15th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shia Francis, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten boards.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Second Baptist was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Second Baptist is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for The Woodlands Christian Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5.

Second Baptist and The Woodlands Christian Academy should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Second Baptist (ranked 39th) will meet Bay Area Christian (ranked 1313th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Second Baptist will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. Similarly, The Woodlands Christian Academy (ranked 75th) will meet Cypress Christian (ranked 897th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
