Basketball Recap: Southwind Comes Up Short

Southwind played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Houston Mustangs, falling 56-33. While losing is never fun, the Jaguars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 275th, while the Mustangs are ranked 101st).

Houston was led to victory by Mckenzie Percoski and Caidyn Sanders. Percoski almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Sanders went 7-for-12 to rack up 17 points along with five boards and three steals. Percoski's afternoon made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Laila Mcnamee, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Southwind has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-19 record this season. The win was the fourth in a row for Houston, bringing their record for this year to 21-9.

Southwind does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Houston, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Collierville at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Houston is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.1 points per game this season.
