Basketball Recap: Arihanna Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Excelsior Classical Academy over Henderson Collegiate

Excelsior Classical Academy was the 38-9 winner over Henderson Collegiate when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Excelsior Classical Academy Flying Lions fell 39-27 to the Henderson Collegiate Pride on Friday. The Flying Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Flying Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Arihanna Williams, who posted ten points. That was a full 37% of Excelsior Classical Academy's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shadiamond Francis Service, who scored seven points.

Excelsior Classical Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Henderson Collegiate, with the victory, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-9.

Excelsior Classical Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 31-20 defeat against Cristo Rey Research Triangle on the 27th. As for Henderson Collegiate, they are taking a road trip to take on Eno River Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Henderson Collegiate has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
