Softball Recap: Lakota East's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Lakota East hadn't done well against Fairfield recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Thunderhawks came out on top against the Indians by a score of 6-1. Winning may never get old, but the Thunderhawks sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Kaleigh Crawford was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Abrie Shulte was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Haley Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Lakota East's record is now 11-7. As for Fairfield, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakota East will face off against Mount Notre Dame at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lakota East's pitchers better be ready for this one: Mount Notre Dame has averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Fairfield, they will square off against Hamilton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
