Football Game Preview: Garner Trojans vs. Clayton Comets + How To Watch

The Garner Trojans will take on the Clayton Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Friday, Garner got the win against South Garner by a conclusive 29-3. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while the Titans are ranked 121st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Christian Ormandy was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 50 yards and one score, and also threw for 83 yards and one touchdown while completing 75% of his passes. His passing game has become a key predictor of Garner's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Clayton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on October 3rd. They blew past South Garner 42-7 last Friday. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.

Clayton has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.6 points on average over those games. As for Garner, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
