Game recap: Pius X High School Football Team defeats North Platte

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. - the Thunderbolts scored 24 points in the second quarter to secure a big 41-14 victory over North Platte (Neb.) on Saturday.

Pius X scored on a Zach Petitt touchdown pass to Grant McElroy, a touchdown run by Riley Gerch and a Hunter Townsend touchdown run in the quarter.

After taking the lead on a Petitt touchdown pass to McElroy in the second quarter, PX was up 31-7 at the half.

The Lincoln school grew its lead to 34 points entering the fourth quarter. The Thunderbolts scored two times in the third, including once on a field goal by Nick Pohlen.



Pius X's standout player in the win was Pohlen. He kicked two field goals and five extra points.

In a non-conference game next week North Platte (0-2) takes on Lincoln East, and Pius X (2-0) will go up against Omaha Northwest also in a non-conference game.
