It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Hinckley-Big Rock had no problem doing just that on Monday. They had just enough and edged the Indian Creek Timberwolves out 2-1. That's more bragging rights for the Royals, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Hinckley-Big Rock had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 17-25, 26-24, 25-18.
Hinckley-Big Rock found their leader in sophomore Claire Lambes, who had seven digs and four aces. The dominant performance gave Lambes a new career-high in aces.
Lambes wasn't the only good server: Hinckley-Big Rock was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indian Creek only served seven.
Hinckley-Big Rock has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season. As for Indian Creek, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-15-2.
