Football Recap: Mt. Vernon Comes Up Short

After soaring to 42 points the game before, Mt. Vernon was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They had to suffer through a 58-13 loss at the hands of the Licking Valley Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Yellowjackets have suffered since October 25, 2024.

Although Mt. Vernon took the loss, they still got scores from Mason Richards and Greyson Deem.

Even if they lost, Mt. Vernon's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Landon Dawson, Lane Mussard, and Cash Ewers, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Mt. Vernon's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-3. As for Licking Valley, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
