Basketball Recap: Bacon County Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Makayla Thomas and Marnay'jah Reynolds

Bacon County has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost to the Brantley County Herons on the road by a 48-33 margin on Saturday. The Raiders were not able to make up for their defeat to the Herons from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

Marnay'Jah Reynolds and Makayla Thomas certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Reynolds posted 22 points, while Thomas almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 15 rebounds. Thomas is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last 11 games she's played dating back to last season.

Bacon County's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Brantley County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-4.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Thomasville the next time they take the court. Bacon County will host Thomasville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Brantley County will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
