            Softball Recap: Westmont Warriors vs. Aptos Mariners        
        
		
        
        
            It's playoff time, and Westmont had no trouble coming through when it counted. They had just enough and edged out the Aptos Mariners  4-3. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by  just one  run.
 Regan Steele spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in 18 consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side, Westmont saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Melia Andrade, who  went 2-for-3 with one  stolen base, one  run,  and one  double.  Sophia Burich was another,  going a perfect 1-for-1 with one  stolen base, one  run,  and one  RBI.
 Westmont  hit smart and  finished the game with only one  strikeout. They are 8-3 when  they post two or more  strikeouts.
Westmont has  been performing  well recently as they've  won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-14 record  this season. The  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Aptos,  with the  loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-8.
 Westmont does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Aptos, they will head out to  square off against Argonaut  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (the Mariners 3.7, the Mustangs 2.8) so any  runs scored will be well earned.
