Softball Game Preview: Hicksville Aces vs. Liberty Center Tigers

The Hicksville Aces will head out on the road to take on the Liberty Center Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Hicksville didn't have quite enough to beat Antwerp and fell 4-3. The Aces haven't had much luck with the Archers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Hicksville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mckenna Baird, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Liberty Center duked it out with Miller City on Saturday. The Tigers walked away with a 9-4 win over the Wildcats. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.

Mackenzie Fuller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fuller was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.

In other batting news, Liberty Center got a big performance out of Macie Krugh, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Aubrey Zeiter was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Hicksville fell to 2-1. As for Liberty Center, their record now sits at 3-0.

Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hicksville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Liberty Center struggles in that department as they've averaged .372. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
